Christopher St.John
Christopher St. John creates sculptural objects that are informed by his interest in expansive metaphysic theory, and the much more focused and very personal experience of making. His is “a sculptural practice rooted in listening, resonance, and relational presence.” The pieces are hand-built in earthenware employing coil and slab techniques to create standing animal forms. These serve as canvases for visual and narrative development through sgraffito, glaze work and through soda-firing with traces of ash and directional flame.
