Julia Roxburgh
Julia Roxburgh’s flamboyantly formed and glazed work domestic ware is influenced by a theatrical exuberance. After graduating with a BA (Hons) Ceramics from Bristol in 1984 she went on to work as a prop maker in London’s musical theatre. Here she worked for six years before returning to her own practice in clay. Using white earthenware, Julia employs a wide range techniques including wheel throwing, hand-building and casting. There is then many hours of colourful slip decoration, which makes her work instantly recognisable.
