Laura’s raku glazed vessels are inspired by the fragile beauty of the forest. Having taken sanctuary in the silence of long walks in the forest near her home, Laura was greatly affected by the devastation caused through wildfires when acres were wiped out during the hot summer of 2022. Her handmade ceramics are informed by shapes and textures found in nature and by focusing on the raku glazing method she captures the strength and resilience of nature. Layering glazes and oxides, these ceramic vessels are fired several times to create variation and depth in colour and tactile textures.
